Sheila Neysmith is a professor of social work at the University of Toronto, Canada. She has published widely on how social policy affects women as they age. In particular, her research focusses on the effects of the organisation of caring work for women as family members, employees in the home care industry and users of services. Her experience in innovative participative research designs has been an important source of inspiration for the programme. In relation to the programme she is responsible for the planning of a comparative qualitative study of home- care services in Canada, Australia and Sweden.
